Types of Spectacles(Eyeglasses) Lenses

There are many types of Spectacles Lenses

1. Single Vision Lenses
2. Bifocal Lenses
3. Trifocal Lenses
4. Progressive Lenses

Single Vision Lenses:-

These lenses have the same prescription power across the whole lenses. With these lenses, we correct myopia(Near-Sightedness), Hyperopia(Long-Sightedness) and also corrected Astigmatism

Bifocal Lenses:-

Bifocal lenses allow for two prescriptions or a 'Dual" focus. This means the lens can contain a prescription for distance and for near work. Bifocal lenses correct both near(Reading) and distance(Far) vision. Bifocal lenses have a visible dividing line between the distance and near power.

Trifocal Lenses:- 

Trifocal lenses have three power far, middle(Intermediate) and near, These lenses have 2 visible lines between distance middle and near

Progressive Lenses:-

Progressive lenses are also known as multifocal lenses. Progressive lenses allow for three-zone, Distance Intermediate and near, Progressive lens gradually changes focus from distance into close range from the top to the bottom of the lens, Progressive lens correct Distance Intermediate(Middle) and Near Vision. Cosmetically the lens is very acceptable because there is no dividing visible line and no-one can tell that the lens is for presbyopic, Progressive Lenses are nowadays more preferred lenses than Bifocal lenses.
